Mouser carts or similar for castle modules?

I’ve been thinking about ordering some PCBs/panels to build the castle LZX modules - but looking at the various BOMs it seems like the gathering of all the stuff needed could take a while. Are there any mouser carts or similar around that people have made and are willing to share?

Would make the sourcing of parts so much less time consuming.

Ughh, I’ve just seen your post now @Daisuk. I’m sure I have one or at least a BOM with all of them combined. Tbh, the Castle range was really uniform regarding values of various components. Only the ICs varied between the higher order modules 100 to 111 because of their particular processing function & the odd cap on the VCO.

The combined Cadet BOMs were maybe as much as twice as extensive but understandably so.

correct. I have a big collection of uncommon resistor values now

I found it pretty straightforward to take a Castle BOM, filter the supplier to Mouser, copy/paste to a new sheet then drop that data in to Mouser’s BOM tool.

That said, there is benefit to going through part by part and using judgement on quantities- you may find that ordering 10 of a component to get a quantity discount is cheaper than ordering 7, even if you only need 7 (as an example)

I always buy 100 of each. except if there is only 1 resistor or cap needed. then I buy 10x or 20x
you will need these parts again when you build the next one!
Mouser has resistors that are 0,019ct if you buy 100.

100 of each might be a bit excessive for some of us - I’d just lose parts since I’m terrible at sorting and storing
Actually I’ll revise that, I am great at sorting and storing but then forget I’ve bought something or forget wjere it’s been stored and just go buy more again

Below are all the Mouser parts to build one of each Castle. You can copy/paste the text in to Mouser’s BOM tool and just follow the prompts
It really makes sense to build a “working” spreadsheet to tick off the parts, I’ve gone further and collated all my components per-module

here is a tip on storing parts:
buy a box of letter-envelopes. Write down the value of the resistors on each envelope
place them in the box. Now you have a easily searchable system.

I also have an Open Office Calc file for my modules, so you can quickly calculate what is needed if you want certain amounts made.

This particular file is a few months old but I’ll link to it here as it is relevant for this topic.

You can see it in this post below.

I like that idea a lot. I’m starting to get really limited on space, so I may borrow it for my more obscure values. That or buy a third drawer. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for all the recent replies. I’ve sort of settled for just saving up for a Fortress instead, but if PCBs/panels became available somewhere nearby, I might go for the Castles instead.

Where are you located @Daisuk? There’s #Castle PCBs and Panels at #Thonk in the UK & at #RawVoltage in Vienna but I’ve no clue about anywhere else.

I’m in Norway, so buy a lot from Thonk. Last time I checked (well, back in May or whenever it was), they were low on stock on the Castle modules (as far as I remember), but they have most of them in stock now, so maybe I’ll put an order in eventually - cheers.
