4:X:X colorspace

I never really understood this aspect of video production
and always assumed bigger is better
without really knowing why


This feels like a good starting point to understanding why it can be important

Great link. :slight_smile: Memory Palace is RGB 4:4:4 (24 bit color) at SD resolutions. I believe with video art you lose a lot by subsampling chroma – even when 4:2:2 can look fine with photographic images, it can be very obvious and noticeable when you’re dealing with full resolution video art, where RGB signals are analog signals.
