I see lots of video enthusiasts use Vimeo instead of YouTube.
Any thoughts on why?

I think the real best place to upload high quality work is archive.org, especially if the content has lots of changes from frame-to-frame (thereby screwing up most types of lossy video compression). For example, I’m a big fan of Madame Chao’s old public access TV show, and the difference between the YouTube uploads and the archive.org uploads is night and day. Obviously archive.org doesn’t have any of the social functions that YouTube or Vimeo have though.
