Thanks @joem – don’t worry, I wasn’t intending to try to pass a video signal through any audio modules. I just want to use my bank of LZX compatible oscillators as signal sources for the Maths and Source of Uncertainty modules. Those will then modulate various video parameters.
The trigger threshold of Maths is ~2.5v, for which the stock Cadet V is fine. But I want to be able to get the full range of modulation of parameters like Rise and Fall times. Maths is expecting +/- 8v on some inputs, +/-10v on others.
Per Buchla weird standards, Source of Uncertainty will expect a 0-10v CV, 10v trigger/pulse, 5v gate/sustain, and nominal +/-1v audio.
Thanks @Rik_bS, I knew about Wrangler, but my rack space is limited and the number of conversions I need to make is high. Cadet V looks like the best option since I don’t need pots for variable scaling. It’s also the most affordable.
+/-10V to 1V:
I’ll compile these values into a BOM with the appropriate names shortly. I have a meeting in a few.
Again, assuming the input is an audio module with 1K series resistance, these values are both accurate and common within video BOMs.
Wow, thanks so much, Fox! I don’t fully understand this, but hopefully I can stretch my brain. Otherwise, if someone can put together detailed instructions for assembling / modifying Cadet V to get these results, I think it would be helpful to other users who are competent with soldering but lack electronics knowledge.
There’s a wide array of Eurorack audio hardware out there, and no standard voltage ranges.
I also have The Analog Thing on pre-order, and its voltage range is also +/- 10v.
